A day at the races

Here at VIP Coach Hire we regularly transport groups of people to various race tracks throughout the country. A day at the races makes a great day out whether you’re trying to impress a corporate client or celebrate a birthday, hen or stag party. With the Grand National coming up at Aintree this weekend we thought it was the perfect time to share our tips for how to have an amazing day at the races...

Check the dress code before you go

If you’re attending Ladies Day at somewhere like Royal Ascot or Cheltenham race course you may find that there’s a specific dress code on that particular day. Think along the lines of the sort of outfit you might wear to attend a wedding. A smart, glamorous outfit topped off with a fascinator or hat should do the trick! If there’s no specific dress code for the day then our advice would be to dress for the weather, remembering that you might be outdoors for most of the day.

Organise the transport

If there’s a few of you heading to the races the best way to get there is by coach. A day at the races is the perfect opportunity to let your hair down a bit. If the Champagne is flowing you don’t want to be burdened with the role of designated driver and miss out on the fun and camaraderie of the day. Book a coach to get you there and back and you’ll be able to fully enjoy the day.

Brush up on betting lingo

If you’re planning on placing some bets whilst you’re at the races then you’ll need to brush up on the lingo. Ascot have an easy guide that can help you to place a bet. They’ve covered everything from how to choose a horse to an easy to understand glossary of terms so that you know whether you want to place your bet ‘to win’ or ‘each way’.
